We are implementing the cash back system to allow all LEGO colleagues the opportunity to access food and beverage establishments reflective of their own unique dietary requirements and food tastes.
We have explored a range of options and considered feedback from Play Day events over the last three years to arrive at a solution which allows colleagues the maximum flexibility to choose their own lunch options, alongside providing the fewest steps and processes to reclaim funds.
The secure, dedicated website UKWorldPlayDay2026.com has been set up for you to input your claim and process your refund as quickly as possible.
We need to ensure all claims are valid, so we will ask you for the following information…
· Your LEGO ID (The 6-digit number on your LEGO pass)
· Your contact details (including LEGO email and a contact telephone number)
· Your bank details (these do not have to be from the card you paid with)
· A valid VAT receipt (this needs to be marked with the items you bought for you only). If the receipt includes multiple items, you will need to confirm which items you purchased – but ideally, you get a separate receipt per person
We have set the spend limit at £30 based on a comparison to lunch costs for previous World Play Day events and with the intention that the amount allows for a substantial meal with soft drinks for each colleague.
You do not need to spend the full amount; any expenditure that is less than £30 will be refunded at the cash value you have purchased, inclusive of any service charges from your chosen outlet.
If you spend over £30 we are unable to refund any purchases over this amount, and you will be refunded the maximum amount of £30 only. Any spend over this amount will be at the choice of each colleague and funded at your own expense.
The lunch cash back is designed to allow all LEGO colleagues the opportunity to connect and dine together and, therefore, is intended for spending in one sitting during your contracted working hours (9am – 5pm).
You are welcome to spend less than the £30 limit if you wish, but we will only accept one claim per colleague with the upload of one receipt. We will not accept multiple receipts.
The cash back is not intended for dinner or the purchase of any additional refreshments in the afternoon. Any receipts submitted outside of working hours on World Play Day will be rejected, as will be the case with refreshments purchased outside of the outlet where you purchased lunch.
We do recommend filling a reusable water bottle at the outlet before you leave to ensure you have water with you.
No. The cash back is only for the purchase of food and drink (non -alcoholic drinks). Any claims outside of this will not be accepted.
There are optional activities in the afternoon as part of World Play Day, so we encourage colleagues to select outlets in and around East London, but we appreciate that booking tables may not allow for all colleagues to be in immediate vicinity of the venue or the Shoreditch area. You are therefore welcome to book tables outside of this area if needed.
It’s not essential, but strongly recommended as we have up to 1,400 LEGO colleagues joining us for World Play Day 2026. While there are lots of options in and around East London, we do recommend securing tables for your teams in advance to avoid any waiting or not being able to find space over the lunch period.
To claim back up to £30 cash back, we do need a valid VAT receipt for all purchases, and this needs to be dated as 11th June 2026. We strongly recommend that, before purchasing, you check with the outlet or vendor that they can supply a valid receipt.
In instances where a printer may be broken, please ask the outlet to provide an email VAT receipt or a written VAT receipt dated and signed by the outlet
If the receipt you receive is illegible, please ask for a new one or a written version.
We will work to refund your spend within 15 days, but if there are any discrepancies with your claim, our team may contact you to clarify purchases.
All funds will be BACS transferred to your nominated bank account.
While we appreciate that sometimes colleagues may offer to cover team lunches, we need to be strict on ensuring every individual pays for their portion of the bill.
Think of it like splitting the bill when out with your friends.
If you are unable, for any reason, to pay for your lunch. Please speak to your people leader in advance of the event and contact us accordingly.
We ask all colleagues to input their LEGO ID (the number on your pass) alongside your contact details when logging your claim. This is so we can match up your details with the LEGO ID and Eventbrite attendance register.
If your bank details differ (i.e., married/ Maiden name, chosen name), don’t worry, as long as they are valid to an account linked back to your inputted information, we should be able to process. However, our team may reach out to check in instances where we need to seek any clarity.
No, it is your responsibility to keep your receipt safe, as this is the means of claiming back your spend. Proof of purchase on bank statements is not valid due to The LEGO Group policy for World Play Day UK that no alcohol can be claimed back, which would only be visible on a valid receipt.
No, unfortunately not. The offer is for registered attendees to World Play Day UK only and your claim will be checked against your registration/ attendance log from the event.
No, the cash back is only for those who attend and is valid on the basis of 1 x claim per colleague up to the value of £30 only. When submitting a claim, you will need to input your contact details, LEGO ID (number on your pass) and LEGO Group contact details.
Should a LEGO ID be identified as having already been inputted or does not match back to the sign-in at the World Play Day event, any additional claims will be rejected.
